Ramalde House


The intervention lot, measuring 304 m², is located in a mixed residential area in the parish of Ramalde, Porto. The project involves demolishing the existing building and constructing a new one with three floors above ground level. The proposal includes a 122.39 m² footprint and a total construction area of 266.11 m², consisting of a main volume for residential use and an annex for storage.
On the ground floor, there will be two access points from the public road: a pedestrian entrance leading to the vestibule (1.18 m²) and a vehicular entrance to the garage (20.97 m²). These spaces will be connected by a corridor (10.81 m²) that provides access to the kitchen (10.72 m²) and the living room (35.67 m²), both opening directly onto the backyard. This floor will also include a guest bathroom (1.71 m²) and vertical circulation elements (staircase and elevator).
The upper floors follow the same layout, with a central corridor (7.98 m²), a shared bathroom (5.15 m²), and two bedrooms with balconies: one to the north (12.06 m² on both floors) and another to the south (12.85 m² on the second floor and 10.17 m² on the third floor). The north-facing bedrooms will also have interior windows opening onto a light well next to the staircase, controlled by shutters.
The annex, located at the northern end of the lot, will be a single-story structure above ground level, with a gross floor area of 10 m² and a usable area of 6.05 m². The backyard will feature a landscaped area, a swimming pool, and a vegetable garden, all connected by a permeable Terraway-type pavement. The existing boundary walls will be preserved.
The structure will be made of reinforced concrete, with exterior walls in thermal block masonry finished in ETICS (RAL 9010). Interior ceilings and walls will be in plasterboard (RAL 9010), with wooden flooring in the bedrooms and corridors of the upper floors, and ceramic tiles in the bathrooms and the entire ground floor. Exterior frames will be in lacquered aluminum (RAL 7033 on the outside and RAL 9010 on the inside), while interior frames will be in enamelled wood. The roof will be in reinforced concrete with Marseille tiles.
The lot is already served by water supply, sewage, and electricity networks, which will be utilized and expanded as needed. Telecommunications connections will be made through underground piping at a depth of 0.60 m, linking the ATE (Building Telecommunications Cabinet) to the CVM (Multi-Operator Inspection Chamber).
