Competition - Expansion of the Stockholm City Library

This is a competition proposal for the expansion of the Stockholm city library that was design by Gunnar Asplund. The existing library has shortage of area and three annex building are isolated and there are no connections between them. Besides, the spaces between the annex buildings are deserted and there is no direct access to the hill behind the library. 
Then here we proposed annexes that will integrate each existing fragment.

1. Book Tower
This is a book storage that has ramps at the perimeter. The ramp reaches the roof and people can go to the hill from the roof.
2. Main Entrance
The main entrance is located where all the function intercrosses each other. The users can reach to several parts from here.
3. Winter garden
It is an atrium where the natural terrain enters to the building. This area helps the illumination and ventilation of the reading area.
4. Open Courtyard
The courtyard stays between existing buildings. The floor has glass block finish and it gives illumination to the basement.
