"Atomic BOMB - HIROSHIMA and NAGASAKI” EXHIBITION
At the commemoration of the 40 years of friendship and twinning between the cities of Porto and Nagasaki, it was created the exhibition "Atomic Bomb - Hiroshima and Nagasaki", in the atrium of the Oporto City Hall. In addition to the purpose of marking the date, this exhibition also had the purpose of informing, disseminating historical facts and sensitizing the population to the dangers and devastating effects of nuclear energy.
Thus, for the creation of the entire exhibition display and with the goal of creating a sensory "trip" to the visitor, it was important not only the visual impact, but also the sonorous one, including details such as the treatment of light and the choice of materials/supports of the information panels.
More specifically, were developed details such as the support structure on burnt wooden slats in order to convey the idea of heat and destruction. The occasional presence of water cups along the route of the exhibition (as points of light) represent the eagerness for the victims' water needs after the a-bomb explosion.
The sound installation intended to reproduce what the victims heard at the time of the explosion as well as in the moments that followed: the sound of a bell lost in the middle of a baffle atmosphere crossed by the whistle of a wind, referring to a desert and lifeless landscape.
